Whillikers... I feel kinda dismayed right now. For a long while, I've been fighting a nasty infection in the piercing in my right ear (it got ripped and infected when the original post came out, loooong story short), and now that the swelling has FINALLY simmered down with the help of a lot of disinfectant ointment, I have finally reached my long-awaited vindication!
From the very beginning, I said that the post's B-shaped backing thingum (earring people will know what I'm talking about) was stuck INSIDE of my earlobe. Of course my parents didn't believe me and said that I was acting on my hypochondriac...ish... tendencies, but sure enough there's now a tiny bit of metal beginning to be pushed out of the back of my ear! Joyful days. My mom kind of felt silly after I showed her and got some forceps and she and my dad alternated between trying to yank it out of the back of my ear (fun fact: ice is kind of a ghetto way of numbing one's earlobe). For a while it was like one forth ways out but then it started to swell again so we had to stop. x:
So now my dad's going to have to drag my sorry butt to the clinic tomorrow, and oh geez do I feel embarrassed with myself. I should've just let my right ear heal over when it ripped instead of trying to make it heal with the earring still inside of it! Kind of a silly mistake on my part. My dad said that they're going to have to dissect the skin around the bit that's sticking out to get the earring piece out of my ear. I hope its going to be nice and numbed because that sounds awfully agonizing. :c Ugh, this is like... the crappiest way to kick off my spring break!
Anyways, sorry for grossing you all out with my ear story, but that's probably where I'm going to be tomorrow if anyone's wondering. Also, my next upload is going to be my half in a trade, so watch out for that. o:
EDITEDITEDITOk! I got to go to urgent care and get that foreign body removed. Huzzah! The staff at the clinic were so excited to see my ear - at one point there were like two doctors and two nurses (like, four-fifths of the medical professionals there) checking it out and they were all like "yes there is definitely something in your ear that is like SO crazy how did that get there lol!" I was probably the most interesting patient there because everyone else were just getting check-ups. I even heard them discussing the condition of my ear in the hallway right outside my room! Clinic doctors lead incredibly boring lives I guess.
Well then they numbed me up with lidocaine (two doses of it actually because I guess they were using the cheap stuff) and it felt sooooo weird because I could feel the needle/scalpel/et cetera inside of me but it didn't hurt! The doctor was really impressed because I didn't flinch at all when he yanked the back of my post out. And then the nurse asked me if I wanted to keep it ("you can make a necklace out of it!" she joked) but I declined because it was all bloody and gross and stuff.
Anyways, now my ear's covered with steritape (which I have to keep on for 2-3 days, bah) and I have to take two Keflex (generic of cephalexin, duuuh) capsules every day to help combat what remains of the infection (I asked my dad if I could just break them and snort the powder inside but he advised against this). This is really cool though because when my dad and I went to Walgreen's to get it they gave me a FREE seven day pill organizer thing (and a bunch of other crap, like a water bottle, lotion, and chapstick)! Now I can be just like my grandparents! Now I have something to stick my viht-uh-mens and such in, which is good because I like never remember to take them! So...
organized!
In conclusion, my ear is fine! I have to take the Keflex until it's all gone and I can't get my ear repierced (yes I am vain enough to keep my right ear pierced after all of that hassle) for two to four weeks. People at Claire's, EXPECT MY PRESENCE. Soonish.
